Hello Students,
Combine Adventure with education, camp for six days in the beautiful Dalhousie region of Himachal Pradesh.All this is being organised for young nature lovers by the Youth Hostels Association of India.
The Nature Study Camp includes bird-watching, star gazing (identification of satellites), rock climbing, trekking and first aid training. You may also photograph the panoramic views of surrounding areas. Avail this opportunity of staying in the camps set amidst majestic snow peaks of the Himalayas and meet the youngsters from various parts of the country. At night, sit around camp fire after dinner for a cultural get-together with a sense of love for nature and outdoor activity aiming at promoting national integration.
Purpose of the Programme
The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough out the rigors of plodding through snow with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promotion national integration.
Eligibility
The programme is open to students of age group 10 to 15 years. Only Junior members are allowed to participate.
Fee
Just Rs. 1,400/- for a package of six enjoyable days in the pollution-free atmosphere of the Himalayas. This includes simple vegetarian food, accommodation, equipment, training, trek to the snow line, forest entry fee and insurance.

One teacher escort accompanying a group of 10 students, will be complimentary in terms of participation fee. Booking will be done on "first come first served" basis.
How to Reach Dalhousie
Last Rail Head : Pathankot / Chakkibank on main Delhi / Howrah Jammu section of Northern Railway.
Bus Service     : Regular Bus services are available from Pathankot, Delhi and other parts of Punjab.
Duration
The duration of Camp for each group is five nights and six days at Base Camp. Each day a group of 50 students will be received at Base Camp. You can report on any of these days after getting your seats confirmed.
Schedule of Programme
You may choose to report at the base camp on any day from 21st April, 26th April, 1st May, 6th May, 11th May, 16th May, 21st May & 26th May 2007.

The schedule will be as follows.
Day 1
Report at Base Camp Youth Hostel Dalhousie. Ht. 7,000 ft.
Day 2
Acclimatization, rock climbing & river crossing
Day 3
Base Camp to Kalatop Trek Ht. 8000 ft.and back to base camp.
Day 4
Base Camp to Joth Trek Ht. 9000 ft.and back to base camp
Day 5
Visit to NHPC Power Generation Project and then go to Khajjiar and back to Base Camp by Bus.
Day 6
Group breaks after breakfast.
Personal Items To Be Brought By You For The Trek
Cotton shirts. cotton pants/jeans. woollen jerseys or jacket, woollen scarf/muffler/cap, DMS/Hunterboots, two pairs of woollen socks, light raincoat, gloves, torch, water bottle, lunch box, enameled or steel mug or tumbler, plate, spoon, water purifying tablets,  penknife, dark glasses (other than blue colour), thread, needle, spare buttons, ball point pen, notebooks, vaseline or cold cream, adhesive plaster. toilet kit, towel, soap and medicines you generally use at home.
Safety
Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out.

How to Apply
Nature StudyMembers desirous of joining this program may apply on the prescribed Registration Form duly supported by Medical Certificate, which is available free of cost from units / state branches and National Office. Available forms on this site are:

You can print these forms and send dully filled forms on the address given below in this page along with Demand Draft of Participation Fee drawn in favour of "National Secretary, Y.H.A. of India" and payable at Delhi.
Certificates
Participants who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the programme, will be awarded certificates. Programme Schedule / Route Programme Schedule and Routes are subject to change without prior notice.
Cancellations
In case you are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of Rs.700/- provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 7 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 7 days.
Adventure Scholarships for the Physically Challenged Youth
YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of Rs.700/- each to physically challenged youth including deaf and dumb for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office, YHAI on a plain paper supported by relevant certificates.
Photographic Competition
After the completion of each trekking expedition,photographic competition is held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates are awarded. You may also send your entries on the following subjects:
   Nature (Birds, Flowers, Wildlife, Scenic beauty),
   Camping,
   Trekking.
The size of the prints should be 8"x10". Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards with due acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July, 2007.

Your Attention
Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrappers or spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or any thing left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you for deposit at the base camp. We will be selecting and appointing two environ-leaders per group. If you have an inclination and an eye for environment protection, we will be glad to receive your particulars along with your registration form.
IMPORT OF ANY BIO NON DEGRADABLE MATERIAL IN HIMACHAL PRADESH IS AN OFFENCE
WARNING:
   Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited.
   Smoking, Use of Alcohols and Narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during the course of the programme.
