| Purpose of the Programme | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough out the rigours of plodding through snow with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promotiong national integraion. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Age | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The minimum age for joining these expeditions is 15 years. This condition will be adhered to strictly. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Fee | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Rs.2,550/- per head, which will cover the
stay at reporting camp Mussoorie in pucca accommodation, simple nutritious
vegetarian food, transportation from Reporting Camp Mussoorie to Base
Camp Sankri and back, 11-days forest entry fee, guidance, equipment and
insurance. You will, however, have to bear to and fro travel expenses from
your home town to Reporting Camp Mussoorie. How to Reach For the convenience of the trekkers coming from all over the country, this year we have established our Reporting Camp at Mussoorie, "Queen of hills" a picturous hill station of Uttaranchal. The nearest railway station is Dehradun, which is well connected with other parts of the country. Buses are available in plenty from Dehradun Bus Stand/Railway Station to Mussoorie. |

| You may choose to report at the
base camp on any day from 1st May to 31st May, 2007. The schedule will be as follows. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Things to bring along with you for the trek | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rucksack (if you have
one), cotton shirts, cotton pants, woollen jersey or jacket, woollen
muffler or monkey cap, light raincoat. DMS/snow boots or
hunter shoes, 2 pairs of woollen socks, hand gloves, torch with spare
batteries, water bottle, lunch box, enameled or steel mug or tumbler,
plate, spoon, water purifying tablets, pen- knife, needle, thread,
spare-buttons, goggles (other than blue glasses), cold cream or vaseline,
soap, toilet paper, towel, medicines which you normally use at home,
camera and film rolls (optional).Safety Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

Members desirous of joining this
program may registered online or apply on the Registration Form duly
supported by Medical Certificate, which is available free of cost from
units / state branches and National Office. You can also download the

| Certificates | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Participants who successfully complete the trek and abide by the discipline of the programme, will be awarded certificates. Programme Schedule / Route Programme Schedule and Routes are subject to change without prior notice. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Cancellations | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In case you are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of Rs.1275/- provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 7 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 7 days. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Adventure Scholarships for the Physically Challenged Youth | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of Rs.1275/- each to physically challenged youth including deaf and dumb for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office, YHAI on a plain paper supported by relevant certificates. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Special Casual Leave | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Trekking Expeditions organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, (Dept. of Personnel and Training), Government of India, vide office order No. 28016/89- Estt(A), dated 25th October, 1989. Participants working for Central Government, can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in a calendar year. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Photographic Competition | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
After the completion of each
trekking expedition,photographic competition is held for which attractive
cash prizes and certificates are awarded. You may also send your entries
on the following subjects:
The size of the prints should be 8"x10". Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards with due acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July, 2007. |

| Your Attention | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrappers or spoil the trail in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or any thing left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you for deposit at the base camp. We will be selecting and appointing two environ-leaders per group. If you have an inclination and an eye for environment protection, we will be glad to receive your particulars along with your registration form. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
